金针虫虽然是一种严重的地下害虫,且因为过去研究工作做的很少,加以宣传教育工作不够,所以还有很多地区,对金针虫没有像对蝼蛄那样的了解和重视。金针虫长年生活在土中,专门咬食麦苗的嫩茎部和嫩根,以致麦苗茎部咬成洞状,折断而枯死。它的成虫是一种硬壳虫,头部能作声响如叩头状,属于鞘翅目,叩头(虫甲)科。金针虫在我国分布很广,各地农民土名很多,如(虫姜)虫、铁丝虫、钢丝虫、黄蚰蜒、金耙齿,荡苗虫、硬金虫,扫苗虫、弓线虫等。
