From the perspective of semantic function, the use of “は” in many sentences shows exactly the subtle differences in language sense and tone, even leads to the transcendental literal meaning. For foreign language learners, semantic understanding is far more important than pure understanding of grammar. Only the subtleties have a good understanding and application, in order to truly high level of communication. This is also a measure and standard for testing and measuring foreign language proficiency.
