This year marks the 30th anniver-sary of the establishment of friendship-city relations between Jinan of Chinaand Wakayama in Japan， the first for-eign entity to have had such ties withJinan. In this regard， a very special per-son stands out： a soldier during China'sWar of Resistance against Japanese Ag-gression who helped bring about thisparticular friendship-city relationshipand open the way for people-to-peoplefriendship between the two countries.
