明代南京作为当时大都会的一个典型代表,五方杂处,贵贱群居,地缘与社会构成相当复杂。那里充满了各种机会和诱惑,社会矛盾与危险也无处不在,这就给城市管理带来了极大的挑战。那么,城市社会矛盾的具体形态有哪些,城市管理采取怎样的模式,司法制度的有效性如何,普通民众如何维护自身的权益?本文试以万历二十二年诚意伯刘世延被勘覆一案为切入点,对相关问题进行探析。
