Multiple orifices is a new type of dissipator in flood discharge tunnels,it is better for energy dissioation. We have conducted the tests of cavitationof orifice on the hydraulic model and prototype. The cavitation characteristicsand the measures for preventing orifices free from cavitation are given. The ef-fects of air content and size scale on cavitation incipience are analysed. Therelationship between cavitation and fluctuating pressure of turbulence is examinedand the design standard on cavitation of orifices is described.
