京剧爱好者对于《十三妹》这出戏并不陌生,它虽不属于某一流派所独有,但王(瑶卿)派在这出戏中独具特色的表演,却使得它广为流行,成为清末以来屡演不衰的剧目。王派的《十三妹》所以受到观众的欢迎,是由于王瑶卿先生在戏中作出了适应他那个时代观众的变革。今天,《十三妹》一戏要保留下去,由从事舞台实践的王派门生,作出适应今天观众的革新,也是势所必然的。令人高兴的是,王派传人刘秀荣最近重排上演的《十三妹》(张春孝改编,李洪春、张云溪艺术指导),既保持了王派的丰采和神韵,又作出了创新尝试。这种老戏新演的做法是值得欢迎的。
