After the Caledonian movement, the pre-Devonian South China terranes returned folds into mountains, ending the geosyncline deposition and beginning to move into relatively stable platform deposits. Early Devonian sediments set up a set of terrigenous crusts and the Middle Devonian platform reopened. It is evident that the distribution of a special deep-water sedimentary facies in shallow and ultra-shallow carbonate enclaves has caused Many depositional scholars have paid attention to the research from different angles. The sedimentary facies naming, distribution characteristics and formation mechanism hold different views. This deeper water sedimentary facies is trough-like and banded in carbonate platforms or terraces, which the authors named as bench-cell facies. This paper attempts to discuss the characteristics of sedimentary facies and formation mechanism, welcome criticism and correction.
