干旱贫瘠的素马里位于亚、非两大洲交界处,东濒印度洋,北临亚丁湾,是红海至印度洋间海上航运要道,世界上每年近1/3的集装箱货轮都要从此经过。由于海盗常年在此出没,这片水域被称为是一片“游荡着幽灵的海域”。
The dry and barren Sumari is located at the junction of Asia and Africa and borders on the Indian Ocean in the east and the Gulf of Aden in the north. It is the main navigational route between the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. Nearly one third of the world’s container ships each year must pass through. As the pirates appear here throughout the year, this water area is known as a “wandering ghostly sea area.”
