薛始亨,字刚生,号剑公,广东顺德人。府学生,少从陈邦彦学。初居羊城五仙观侧,与邝露毗邻。丙戌之变,遂返龙江,杜门二十年。尝谒罗浮华首宗宝和尚为受记,又从鼎湖在掺和尚受戒。遇异人授以剑术,因又号剑道人。遁迹西樵、罗浮,亦号二樵山人。尝以香木斫一琴,名日“都梁”。琴为连珠式,轸及雁足均青玉为之。护以明锦囊。琴底颈部刻篆书“都梁”二字,其上又刻行书铭文四行:“有泉石之韵,有圭壁之容,雍雍乎以雅以风。使非老其材,何以垂声于无穷。空山子书为剑道人。”
