兵器工业部和中国科学院于1986年6月3日至4日在北京联合组织了WBKX-40A微机控制大型线切割机床样机技术鉴定会。该机床采用宝石导轮、滚珠丝杠等精密传动结构,行程400×500mm,最大加工厚度150mm,两线架可调。机床的WBKX-A自动编程控制系统的主机是具有48KRAM和40KROM的微处理机。采用固化软件,可通过键盘、显示器用人机对话方式进行自动编程或控制切割加工,最大控制半径16.7m,它除了通用的控制功
