Objective To investigate the correlation between C-reactive protein (CRP) and abnormal EEG in patients with Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP) in order to find the timing of acute electroencephalogram (HSP) examination. Methods 97 cases of acute HSP in children with CRP and EEG examination. Divided into EEG abnormal group and EEG normal group, CRP levels were compared between the two groups. Results The level of CRP in EEG abnormal group was higher than that in EEG normal group (P <0.05). Conclusion The elevated CRP may be related to the abnormality of EEG in acute HSP, and EEG should be routinely performed in children with acute exacerbation of HSP (HSP) in order to detect brain damage as soon as possible.
