丘陵区新造幼林一般在当年春末夏初抚育一次,进行松土,培蔸,正苗等工作。秋末再抚育一次。以后每年至少抚育一次。连续抚育三至四年,直到郁闭成林。幼林抚育四季都可进行,但以春夏两季最适宜,因为这时林地的灌木杂草幼嫩,容易腐烂,铲除后可以作为肥料。三伏天不宜抚育,这时气温高,太阳大,地表炽热,铲草松土容易造成树苗死亡。现将不同抚育时间对杉木幼林生长的影响抽样调查情况,列表如下:
