Objective To investigate the role of CD4 + CD25 + CD127low-labeled regulatory T cells (Tregs) in the pathogenesis of multiple myeloma (MM) in the elderly. Methods The peripheral blood of 59 elderly patients with MM was taken as research group and 60 elderly healthy subjects as control group. The proportion of CD4 + CD25 + CD127low regulatory T cells in peripheral blood was detected. Results Compared with control group, the levels of CD4 + in MM stage Ⅰ and Ⅲ were significantly increased (P <0.05), but there was no significant difference between the two groups (P> 0.05); CD4 + CD25 + The expression rates of MM Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ were higher than that of the control group (P <0.05). The expression rate of CD4 + CD25 + CD127low cells was in a progressive relationship between different stages of multiple myeloma The difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). The proportion of CD4 + CD25 + CD127low cells in MM stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ was lower than that in stage Ⅲ, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). Conclusion The abnormal increase of Treg cells in MM patients suggests that Treg cells may be an important cause of MM immunosuppression.
