Since the mid-1970s, the U.S. Department of Defense has been exploring the rationale for a new, larger computer language. This language is likely to replace FORTRAN and COBOL in the coming years. In view of the fact that Ada is just beginning to be used, this press agency considers it timely and timely to interview Jean Ichbiah, the chief architect of this new language. Ichbiah details Ada’s evolution, assesses what it has achieved so far and speculates on its future.
