This work is a topic of NNSA’s “Nuclear Research Program” during the “Ninth Five-Year Plan” period. The topic of this paper is a systematic study on the reaction of fuel cladding and water vapor under the condition of light water loss accident. The main contents are as follows : (1) the influence of temperature and time on the reaction of fuel cladding and water vapor; (2) the influence of oxide film thickness formed under normal working conditions on the reaction of fuel cladding and water vapor;
