为了实现新干线用牵引电动机轻量、高速、低噪声,以及既有线用牵引电动机实现低成本、减少维修等,在新干线用牵引电动机上采用了一些新技术:通风冷却技术,在定子上开通风扎;采用无框架定子和铝托架结构、陶瓷绝缘轴承以防电化学腐蚀;开发了润滑性良好、使用寿命长的润滑脂以及在既有线用的牵引电动机上采用铝转子、在轴承外圈喷涂PPS成形树脂等;同时还开发了不拆卸轴承也能供给和排泄润滑脂的新结构轴承。
