A recent study in Age and Aging states that there is growing evidence that moderate alcohol consumption reduces the body’s C-reactive protein (CRP) levels and reduces the incidence of inflammation in the body. According to Dr. Luigi Ferrucci of the National Institutes of Health, past studies have shown that an increase in inflammation occurs in the elderly as a result of aging, which is a major cause of debilitating and disease-causing diseases in the elderly. Ferrucci and colleagues looked at the relationship between alcohol consumption and age-related inflammation. Researchers at the University of Florida explored the drinking of more than 3 200 elderly people over the age of 65, all of whom were participants in the 2008 HRS study. The results show that moderate alcohol consumption in the body than the level of inflammatory cytokines and drinkers
