Trichinellosis outbreaks are very rare in Southeast Asia. In the past 20 years, there have been reports of minor outbreaks in northern Thailand and Laos due to the habit of eating raw pork for local residents. A Chinese who settled in Hong Kong in 1982 ate pork from southern China and caused an outbreak because of its lack of cooking. In May 1982, a 25-year-old patient was hospitalized for fever for 2 weeks. Sometimes the temperature was as high as 104 ° F, giving a hot flashes with generalized discomfort and mild myalgia. Laboratory diagnosis: Trichinella antibodies were detected by cross-immunoelectrophoresis and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), both of which were strongly positive. Trichinella spiralis larvae were detected in fresh samples of gastrocnemius muscle tissue, and the infection rate was about 1 / g. three
