The geniposide is one of the main components of gardenia jasminoides Ellis fruit, which is hydrolyzed to genipin in the intestine and liver. The authors studied the antithrombotic effects of geniposide and genipin by photochemical reaction-induced in vivo thrombosis models and studied their antiplatelet agglutination in vitro. The authors photochemically induced the femoral arteries of ICR male mice for 4.6 min, and the femoral arteries of mice were blocked by enriched platelets. Intravenous injection of 20 and 40 mg/(kg·min) of geniposide could delay the obstruction time in a dose-related manner.
