畜牧档案作为一项重要的信息资源和知识宝库,是在草场建设、育种饲养和畜牧兽医活动中形成的科技档案。它记载和反映了一个地区畜牧业发展的全部过程和具体成果,由畜牧局保管是畜牧局研究和建设的重要研究资料,具体是关于畜牧育种、饲养和兽医活动,管理和应用好科技档案信息资源,为畜牧业各项工作提供有效服务,推动现代畜牧业的发展,是畜牧科技档案的关键,做好畜牧科技档案管理工作对于促进畜牧业经济社会全面发展具有重要的意义。近年来,经过广大工作者的努力,畜牧局档案工作的进展已经取得了与以前相比很大的进步。我们应该认识到其中存在的这些问题,思想认识尚不足,关于畜牧局畜牧档案管理上仍然不健全,找到有效解决措施,使现在的状况得到改观。
