2007年是中印两国政府确定的中印旅游友好年。2月12日,中印两国在印度佛教圣地那烂陀举行了玄奘纪念堂落成仪式,中国外交部部长李肇星、中印双方宗教及文化事务官员,以及两国近百名佛门弟子共同出席了这一盛典。这不仅是佛教界的一件盛事,也为中印文化交流写下了新的一页。2月26日晚,国家宗教局副局长、修复完善玄奘纪念堂项目总负责人齐晓飞,纪录片《玄奘之路》导演金铁木,北京大学东语系教授、纪念堂竣工典礼中国佛教代表团成员湛如法师作客中央电视台国际频道“今日关注”栏目,接受了主持人鲁健的专访。
