在美国办公用电脑占据整个电脑销售达数十年之久以后,家庭电脑异军突起,业已成为最畅销的产品之一。去年美国人所购买的电脑达到了创记录的2200万台,销售额增长了40％,达70亿美元。 今天每3个美国家庭中,就有一家拥有一台PC机,其总数大约3200万台,但电脑硬件和软件的制造商们认为其需求量只会有增无减。 至少有5个原因使家庭电脑的销售量猛增: 一、越来越多的美国人喜欢在家里工作。在拥有电脑的家庭中,60％的家庭设有家庭办公室。
After office computers in the United States accounted for the entire computer sales for decades, family computers have suddenly emerged as one of the best-selling products. Last year, the number of computers purchased by Americans reached a record high of 22 million units. Sales increased by 40% to $7 billion. Today, one out of every three U.S. households owns a PC. The total number is about 32 million, but manufacturers of computer hardware and software think that their demand will only increase. There are at least five reasons why home computer sales have soared: 1. More and more Americans like to work at home. In families with computers, 60% of families have home offices.
