Ionizing radiation has been shown to damage the gut, and it is also often the reason that doses of pelvic malignancies are limited during radiotherapy. In view of this situation, it is very important to find effective preventive measures. The purpose of this experiment is to study the use of elemental meals to prevent the possibility of gastrointestinal acute radiation injury in dogs. Choose 20 healthy dogs. Weight 18 ~ 20kg, both male and female were divided into two groups: A group fed normal feed, B group was fed with essential meals. Essential meal ingredients are: partially hydrolyzed high quality protein (16.7%). Hydrolyzed starch and sucrose (73.9%), medium chain triglycerides and safflower oil (9.5%). Five dogs in each group were also selected as controls and fed separately for at least three days with the original ration. The distal ileum, approximately 15 cm apart from the ileocecal valve under anesthesia, was then biopsy-biopsy. The remaining dogs were also fed in groups. Three days later they were given radiotherapy at a total dose of 2000 rad according to the standard for the treatment of invasive bladder cancer. Irradiation of the bladder was performed in equal portions over four days.
