今年的5月17日与往年有所不同,从今年开始,国际电信联盟决定,将全球电信领域传统的“世界电信日”与2006年联合国大会通过设立的“世界信息社会日”合二为一,因此今年的“5·17”成为了具有里程碑意义的一天。更值得一提的是,今年国际电联将“世界电信日和信息社会日”的主题确立为“让信息通信技术惠及下一代”,在呼唤信息通信技术为下一代青年健康成长保驾护航的同时,提出了信息通信技术的长远发展和信息通信业的社会责任等重大问题。为纪念这个行业盛事,由信息产业部主办,中国通信学会承办的2007年“5·17世界电信和信息社会日”庆祝大会在北京国际饭店隆重召开,信息产业部副部长奚国华等出席会议并做了重要讲话。此外,大会期间举行的青年论坛还就如何通过信息通信技术的发展惠及下一代提出了倡议。
