The vertical seismic profile (VSP) recorded by the vibrator can be used to determine the arrival of the transverse wave more accurately by using wavelet transform and spectral whitening method. This method helps to identify transverse and longitudinal waves. The improved data can be used to determine the principal axes of polarization of the transverse waves at each depth of investigation so that the two horizontal component signals can be summed together to maximize the amplitude of the transverse waves.
