Shortly after her daughter Abi was born, Jennifer Riley began reading stories to her. At first, the baby bites the book cover, splashes on the page, but Jennifer does not mind, even allowing Abby to hug the book and fall asleep. When she was 1, she loved books, cuddled in her mother’s arms, and gazed at Jennifer’s fairy tale “Snowman and Bear Dancing” with her eyes wide open. Ibi will walk, often sitting at home next to the big Labrador dog, holding a book, read the story to the dog. Like Abby’s mum, I often read books to my children. My parents also read to me that year, and now, I gave me a few grandchildren read the story. To be good at parents, to listen to children is one of the biggest tricks. It will have a profound impact on your child’s life and learn more about them, and when they really learn, they will be a step ahead of others. Educators say children like Abby, who enter school, will read about two and a half years before other children.
