The author of this article is Dr. Hans Winter, director of the Institute of Gears and Gearing (FZG) at the Technical University of Munich and the ant - anriebtechnik editor of Drive Technology magazine in West Germany. In the field of gear transmission discipline, Professor Winter and FZG Institute have made a lot of achievements in scientific research and have a good reputation in the world. He is responsible for the formulation of “DlN3990 - Involute Cylindrical Gear Drive Carrying Capacity Calculation” and Chairman of Working Party 6 (ISO / TC60 / WG6) of the 60th Technical Committee of the International Organization for Standardization. Since its establishment in 1954, the working group has been responsible for formulating international standards for the calculation of the involute cylindrical gear transmission’s bearing capacity. After 20 years of hard work, the draft documents ISO / TC60 / WG6, 165E, 166E, 167E etc. were released in 1974, Recent discussions and refinements have been made to ISO / TC 60 / WG 6; 199E, 200E, 201E, 202E etc. (including cylindrical gear contact, bending and gluing calculations) and will soon be published as a formal draft. In September 78, Professor Winter attended the IFTOMM International Conference in Yugoslavia. At the invitation of the General Assembly, he made the report and gave a copy of the report to the Chinese delegation attending the meeting. Later, Professor Winter learned that when the article was to be translated into Chinese, he specially magnified the attached Figure 28 in the text and sent it to the Competence Officer of the Institute of Transmission. Prof. Winter’s enthusiastic help and thanks.
