中国当代艺术自“85新潮”后至今已有30年历程,湖北作为当代艺术的重要发源地之一,其独立的艺术创作思想、延续不断的发展脉络,丰厚的文化积淀,是中国当代艺术重要的组成部分。湖北当代艺术创作多彩多样,风格多变,至今艺术创作支脉繁多,人才辈出,在当代艺术创作领域,活跃着各种探索者的活动轨迹。湖北当代艺术创作群体是有别于中国其他地域特有的文化现象,无论是作为艺术本体创作上的坚守,还是其探索及实验精神都令艺术界瞩目和思考。
