Since the reform and opening up, China’s utilization of foreign investment has been by leaps and bounds. After 1992, foreign direct investment in China has increased significantly. By the end of 1996, China had approved a total of 280,000 foreign-funded projects with an implementation value of 177.2 billion U.S. dollars. Among them, the investment of large foreign-owned enterprises, especially large multinational corporations, increased rapidly. By 1996, more than 200 multinational enterprises had entered China.
