赣州气候温和,雨量充沛,土地肥沃,农、林、水资源得天独厚,是全国18个重点材区之一,森林覆盖率74.4％,活立木蓄积量达8000多万立方米。赣州水资源总量巨大,人均拥有量达6373立方米,水能理论蕴藏量216.2万千瓦,可供开发量达158.6万千瓦,而且这里山谷多、落差大,具有很大的水电开发潜力。 赣州素有江南“鱼米花果”之乡的美称,有13个县、市分别获得国家认定的各类特色产业之乡称号。经过20多年的努力,这里的果业生产已具规模,全市现有果园面积16万公顷,水果年产量达35万吨,初步形成了以脐橙为主,甜柚、密橙、密橘等多种名特优水果相结合的中国重要的水果生产基地。赣南脐橙、蜜橘等果品多次获得全国优质农产品称号,赣南脐橙以其产量大、品质优享誉海内外,享有“俯橙之王”的美名。此外,赣州市地下矿产资源丰富,已发现的矿产有99种,探明有工业储量的矿产有54种,大小矿产地有1300多处。钨、稀土在全国闻名,素有“世界钨都”和“稀土之乡”的美称,全市保有矿产储量的潜在经济价值达3000多亿元。
