第89届国际世界语大会于2004年7月24日到31日在北京举办。这是第二次在中国举办的国际世界语大会。第一次是1986年在北京举办的第71届大会。世界语被人们认为是“国际普通话”。各种国际性世界语会议都无需翻译,因为与会者都懂“国际普通话”——世界语。1987年世界语创立100周年时,在世界语发源地华沙举行的第72届世界语大会。笔者全程采访了这次大会。这次大会通过了一项专门决议,要扩大世界语在科技领域的应用。与会者提出,为适应这一需要,在布达佩斯建立世界语术语中心,以统一和扩大世界语的科学术语。
The 89th International Esperanto Conference was held in Beijing from July 24 to 31, 2004. This is the second international Esperanto conference held in China. The first was the 71st General Assembly held in Beijing in 1986. Esperanto is considered to be “International Mandarin”. There is no need for translators for various international Esperanto conferences, because the participants understand “international Mandarin” - Esperanto. At the time of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Esperanto in 1987, the 72nd Esperanto Conference held in Warsaw, the birthplace of Esperanto. The author interviewed the conference. The conference adopted a special resolution to expand the use of Esperanto in science and technology. Participants proposed that, in order to meet this need, a terminology center for Esperanto should be established in Budapest to unify and expand Esperanto’s scientific terminology.
