鸦片战争后的中国武术,在西方强势体育文化的冲击之下,迈上了现代化的征程。西方现代文明的辉煌成就,引导着武术现代化的发展走向。摹仿西方体育范式而诞生的现代竞技武术,历经半个世纪的发展与“进奥”努力,未能成为奥运家庭的正式成员。竞技武术的优先发展,使其成为武术运动的主体,而作为武术重要组成部分的传统武术与学校武术,面临着严峻的挑战。武术现代化的困窘,引发了人们对西化模式的反思与检讨。在此背景下,中央电视台与大学生体协联袂推出的《武林大会》,对武术现代化的本土化模式进行了积极的探索。宏观考察近百余年来武术的现代化转型与纷争,诠释《武林大会》对武术现代化模式的创新,在把握武术文化特质的基础上探讨《武林大会》的发展,是武术现代化发展中不容忽视的课题。
