Plato believes that the reality of being is the shadow of idea, and the art of imitating reality is the shadow of shadow. His implication is that art can not only reproduce the “shadow” of the reality but also directly reproduce the “idea”. Greenberg believes that realism reproduces the illusion of reality, and abstract art reproduces the reality
