坝下涵管是水库枢纽工程中的重要组成部分,近年来,在工程实践中,发现不少坝下涵管,由于各种不同的原因而产生裂缝、断裂,直接危及主体工程大坝的安全,因此,不得不将原涵封堵另凿隧洞,或挖开大坝重建新涵,或采取其他补强措施。总之,由此而造成重复投资所付出的代价是相当可观的。其中,不少建筑在软基上的涵管断裂,大都是由于设计时忽略必须考虑的纵向强度计算,而仅以横向强度作为控制条件而引起的。
