佳能是日本最早的照相机品牌,早在上世纪30年代,就开始制造35mm照相机,到上世纪50年代,佳能已经推出多款测距相机和全系列的镜头,这一时期,以德国为代表的相机研发兴趣明显转向35mm单反相机,日本自然不甘落后,有一批企业迅速推出自己的35mm单反相机产品,它们是旭光、密伦达、美能达、托普康和尼康。显然,佳能在这个领域并不是先行者。
