2004年7月20日,中国剪纸蝴蝶王胡宝国再次到东南亚各国进行文化交流,记者在他行前专门采访了他。痴迷剪纸拜老太太为师胡宝国出生在古都开封一个回族家庭,少年时即爱好剪纸,每逢喜事,他都爱往人家“门”前凑,琢磨人家写的“喜”字,后来又对花圈上的蝴蝶开始着迷,时常关在屋里学剪蝴蝶。父母怕他“捂”出病来,往外赶他,依旧挡不住儿子剪蝴蝶的兴致。一晃数年过去了,胡宝国长成一个身强体健的青年,到1976年当兵时,他剪的蝴蝶已经很不错了。
