The design and synthesis of multidentate amine phosphine metal complexes are briefly introduced. These multidentate complexes show the rich structural type and special catalytic properties that monodentate amines or phosphine metal complexes do not possess. Synthesis and characterization of the bis (amine bisphosphine) ruthenium complex (R, R) -3 and the bisamine bisphosphine ruthenium complex (R, R) -4 were studied. The complex (R, R) -4 can be used as a chiral catalyst for the asymmetric hydrogenation of many aromatic ketones with an optical yield of up to 97%. The catalytic mechanism of ruthenium complexes is discussed.
