(一)数年前,笔者闲中阅读《曾国藩家书》,得见他在给儿子曾纪泽的一封谈论诗歌的家信中说:“尔要读古诗,汉魏六朝,取余之所选曹、阮、陶、谢、鲍、谢六家,必与尔性质相近。至于开拓心胸,扩充气魄,穷极变态,则非唐之李杜韩白,宋金之苏黄陆元,不足以尽天下古今之奇观。尔之质性,虽与八家不相近,而要不可不将此八人之集悉心研究一番。(它们)实《六经》外之巨制,文字中之尤物也!”从这番话可以窥见曾国藩对“八家”诗歌之中肯评价与高度推崇。

This remark can give a glimpse of Zeng Guofan’s evaluation of ”eight" poetry and highly respected.
