黎庶昌担任驻日公使期间,正值日本政治史上的一段关键时期。在与李鸿章的通信中,两人关于当时的日本政局有过大量交流。本文通过分析李鸿章的去信,探讨了他对日本政治体制、对外修约、自由民权运动几个问题的观感,以便更全面地认识其日本观。本文认为,经由黎庶昌的报告,李鸿章大致把握住了日本政局的脉搏,而对此阐发的见解可谓瑕瑜互见。
During his tenure as Japan’s minister in Japan, Li Shuchang came to a critical juncture in the political history of Japan. During the communication with Li Hung-chang, both had a lot of exchanges on the then Japanese political situation. By analyzing the letter of Li Hongzhang, this essay discusses his perceptions of several issues concerning Japan’s political system, foreign revision and freedom and civil rights movement in order to get a more complete understanding of Japan’s concept of Japan. This article argues that through Li Shuchang’s report, Li Hongzhang has roughly mastered the pulse of Japan’s political situation, and the opinions so elaborated can be described as flagrant.
