1977年,建筑学专业恢复本科高考招生,翌年2月入学,学制改为四年。1978年,建筑学专业恢复研究生招生。1979年,土木、建筑两系重新分开,徐中任建筑工程系主任,下设民用建筑设计教研室、工业建筑设计教研室、城市规划教研室、建筑技术教研室、建筑历史教研室、建筑物理教研室、美术教研室。1980年初,日本神户大学代表来天津大学访问。神户大学建筑学科多渊敏树副教授来建筑系进行访问,缔结了国际学术交流活动协定。1980年秋,第一届天津大学·神户大学学生建筑设计作业交流展在神户市举行。
In 1977, architecture major resume college entrance examination enrollment, enrollment in February the following year, school system changed to four years. In 1978, architecture major resumed graduate enrollment. In 1979, two departments of civil engineering and architecture were re-separated. Xu Zhongren was director of Department of Construction Engineering. He was composed of Civil Architecture Design Department, Industrial Architecture Design Department, Urban Planning Department, Architectural Technology Department, Architectural History Department, Architectural Physics Department and Fine Arts Department. In early 1980, a delegation from Kobe University visited Tianjin University. Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture, Kobe University, made an interview with the Faculty of Architecture and concluded an agreement on international academic exchange activities. The autumn of 1980, the first Tianjin University · Kobe University student architectural design homework exchange exhibition held in Kobe.
