毽球,俗称毽子,是我国民间传统体育项目之一。在我国封建社会的昇平歌舞之时,从帝王将相到平民百姓,无不以踢毽子来娱乐身心,点缀生活。早在唐人诗画和宋人话本中,就有不少的描绘。千百年来,不知有多少男女老少在踢毽子中享受到运动的乐趣。毽球运动历史不衰。近年来各种体育项目开展普遍,但毽球以成本低,不受场地、人数、季节的限制而倍受广大人民群众所喜爱。国家体委很早就想将毽球运动正规化,系统化,以使毽球成为我国面向世界的民族体育项目。六十年代中期在广州就举行过一次毽球公开赛,但由于后来的十年浩劫,毽球运动直到八十年代
