近年来,人们对“希望工程”已不再陌生。每当谈论起这项功在当代、利在千秋的伟业时,眼前就会浮现出那张著名的照片:贫困山区学童的那饱含希冀,让人回味不尽的双眼;脑海里就会联想到那些因经济困难而辍学或根本上不起学的嗷嗷待哺的少年儿童。因此,社会各界对“希望工程”寄予厚望。然而,若使“希望工程”变得真正有希望,除了依靠党和政府的大力支持跌及社会各界有识之士的鼎力救助外,还要靠那些懂教育、会管理、有奉献精神的实干家、创业者。这里向读者介绍的正是这样一位实干家,他虽年近古稀,仍以老骥伏枥,志在千里的雄心壮志,辛勤地耕耘在教育的百花园里。他就是民进武汉市教科文委副主任、江汉区求实小学校长滕践行同志。
