上海市的河流大多受潮汐影响,一般称感潮河流,但各河段受潮汐的影响程度是不同的,河流的下游受潮汐影响大,潮差大,越往上游时潮汐影响逐渐减弱,涨落潮差也随之减小,当上游来水大时,每日二高二低的潮位变化也可能消失。上海市规定,水位日变化不超过30cm的潮水位站和受闸门控制的内河水位站,在对外提供资料和水文资料整编时均采用无感潮河流的水位整编方法,整编刊出日、月、年平均水位,以及最高、最低月,年特征水位值。
