Thirty-four patients with hypertension were treated with combination therapy of intravenous (10 or 20 mg daily) and hydrochlorothiazide (daily 50 mg). Serum lipid and lipoprotein changes were observed and compared with placebo. After 6 to 18.5 months (mean, 13.3 months), HDL cholesterol increased 17% (P <0.01) and LDL cholesterol decreased 4% (P <0.01) in the treatment group ), The HDL / LDL ratio increased by 28% (P <0.01).
