The first three years of operating experience of an 800 MW unit has shown that the worst reliability component of a HP heater is a flanged membrane seal and the vast majority of membrane seal damage occurs when the HP heater is in operation. In many cases, occurs after the high-pressure heater is removed by the protective device during the initial operation. Therefore, the operating conditions of the high pressure heater housing temperature, the deformation of the flange joint surface and the stress of connecting bolts were specially studied and will be measured. The stress is compared with the design value required to ensure the sealing of the flange joint.
