晴隆县位于贵州高原西南部,北纬25°50′,东经105°13′,县城拔海1552米,年平均气温14℃,降雨量1544毫米左右,是以旱粮作物为主的冷凉山区。粘虫是该县农作物的主要害虫,二代粘虫六、七月间为害包谷、水稻等作物,大发生年为害严重,全县损失粮食约200万斤左右,是农业生产的大敌。
