老舍的小说创作继承和丰富了鲁迅的“改造国民性”文化思想,在中西文化碰撞和交融中又具有了不同寻常的文化特质,从而显示其独有的艺术魅力。老舍从中西文化心理上的巨大差异中探索形成中华民族的国民性弱点,并找到了改造国民性的正确途径。新世纪之初,充分理解老舍和世界的文学关系,对建构现代中国的民族性以及对与中外文化的交流都具有重要意义。
Lao She’s novel creation inherits and enriches Lu Xun ’s “reforming nationality ” cultural thought, and possesses unusual cultural traits in the collision and blending of Chinese and Western cultures, thus showing his unique artistic charm. Lao She explored the national weakness of forming the Chinese nation from the great psychological and cultural differences between Chinese and Western cultures and found the correct way to reform her nationality. At the beginning of the new century, it is of great significance to fully understand the literary relations between Laoshe and the rest of the world and to construct the nationality of modern China and its exchange with both Chinese and foreign cultures.
