太原市迎泽大桥年久失修,且越来越不适应现代化大都市的交通需要,为此太原市市委、市政府决定在原桥位置处修建一座与迎泽西大街同宽的现代化立交桥。而在这施工期间,需修建一座代用便桥,这项工程的计划工期仅为18天。在如此短的时间内修建一座长144米,宽18米的便桥谈何容易。大量的物资要在短短的几天内运到施工现场且要加工制作,所需设备,施工队伍在外地也一时难以调回,加之汾河上游水库放水,河面由原来的65米展宽到120米,使工程难度加大。在时间短、任务急、困难多的情况下,中铁十二局二处发扬了铁军敢打硬拼的光荣传统,以临战的姿态,抢建的速度,打了一个漂亮的施工仗。
