“唯英语教育”这一术语产生于美国19世纪末20世纪初,是美国联邦政府针对土著印第安人开展的一场强制同化运动。旨在强制印第安人放弃母语,唯一用英语进行学习,生活,交流等一切表达,因实施方法等问题,结果以失败告终。透视这一现象,反思大学英语教育的目的也是希望学生能熟练的运用英语进行听说读写译,种种原因,如今对于大部分中国学生来说,也未见成效。
The term “only English education” was born in the United States at the beginning of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. It is a forced assimilation campaign conducted by the federal government against indigenous Indians. Designed to force Indians to abandon their mother tongue, the only learning, living, communication and other expressions in English, due to implementation methods and other issues, the results ended in failure. Looking at this phenomenon, the purpose of reflecting on college English education is also to hope that students can skillfully use English to read, write, translate, and for various reasons. Nowadays most Chinese students have not achieved any success.
