The political issue of Japanese political parties is one of the important areas for Japanese studies and the weak link and the difficulty in the research so far. In postwar Japan, the LDP, a long-standing one-party ruling for 38 years from 1955 to 1993, was extremely rare among the major Western countries. After the Cold War, the Japanese politics and its party system are also in the process of transformation, which has aroused the widespread concern of academics at home and abroad. Since the political parties are at the core of the operation of post-war Japanese national political system, careful study of the evolution of Japanese political parties and their inherent laws is of great significance for us to understand and grasp Japan’s national development process and direction. In the field of political studies in Japanese political parties, the book Postwar Political Party Politics in Japan, launched by People’s Publishing House in August 2004, is yet another masterpiece recently completed by Professor Wang Zhensuo of the Japanese Academy of Nankai University.
